Remarks
The collection of the 'Streekmuseum' contains the collections of three local coin clubs.
Provincial and kingdom coins are accented. At two large panels hundreds of coins, tokens
and banknotes are grouped together.
In one of the rooms a collection of about fifty Polish coins from the 17th until the 20th
century is shown.

Remarks
In Februari 1958 a stone bottle was found in the community of Barneveld. The bottle contained
11 gold and 221 silver coins. Research showed that the treasure was hidden around 1425.
The stone bottle with some of the coins is shown in the museum which is housed in a former
17 century brewery.
The rest of the collection consist out of coins from different periods of time and some
additional tokens.

Baron van Westreenen van Tiellandt (1783-1848) was an almost fanatical collector.
This becomes clear once one visit the museum which is located in his 18 century house.
Parts of his many collections are displayed. Alas the collection containing over 11,000
mainly Greek and Roman coins is not accessible. This collection is not yet inventoried.
Apart from coins and tokens the museum contains a considerable old numismatic library.

Remarks
The collection of 'Gelderse' and 'Westfriese' coins brought together in 'Teylers museum'
is the most complete in our country. In this museum (the oldest in Holland) an excellent
view at the 'Gelderse' and 'Westfriese' provincial coinage is given.
The 'gelderse' coins derive from the legacy of the former conservator Th. M. Roest and
represent the period of the 13th to 18th century. On display are coins from the middle ages
and the 16e century.
The collection of 'Westfriese' coins consists of specimens minted by the co-operate cities
of Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik over a period starting at the end of the 16th century until
the 19th century.
Apart from above mentioned collection a collection Roman and Byzantine coins from the period
27 B.C. to 1150 A.D. is on display.

and tokens on display.
The coins are chronological arranged. First the Celtic and Roman coinage folowed by the
Merovingic and Karolingic periods. Next the duchy of 's-Hertogenbosch starting with the
counts of Leuven up to the peace treaty of Münster infact the end of the old duchy.

This museum contains a huge collection cumulating to over 230,000 pieces.
Beside it's task as museum the 'KPK' has another two tasks. Maintaining the collection and
researching the collection. Maintaining the collections does not mean just keeping and save
guarding the collection for future generations but also acquiring historical important
numismatic pieces.
The library contains about 12,000 numismatical writings and is free of charge accessible
for the public. Books can be consulted and if necessary people of the KPK will assist with
your study. Books are rarely lend out.
At Wednesday afternoon the KPK has its consulting hours. Everybody who needs information
about coins, tokens or cut stones is welcome. One can also bring coins for determination.
The exhibitions are accessible via the 'Rijksmuseum van Oudheden'.
Guided tours are available in German, English, French and Dutch.
Explanatory texts are in English and Dutch.
